Well summer is officially upon us here in East Texas. We have had 33 days of temps over 100 and are on track to break a Texas record of 42 days of temps above 100 set back in 1980. Suffice to say- it's HOT!
We've picked out some great ideas to keep young one's happy and entertained during these hot days until school starts. The Playmobil Pool with Water Slide is a great way to keep cool in the Land of Playmobil. The pool itself can be filled with water and the side shower really works so you can wash off after a long swim.

New Game Arrivals!

Hi All,
we just received in 4 cool new games that will bring new excitement to family game night! From Blue Orange Games we have Link that opens in a new window or tab
Spot It! This game is super fun for ages 7 and up but my 5yr.old daughter plays it too! The object is to match up one object on your card with one of the objects on the starting card. Even adults can get into this fast paced game as they try to match up their cards!

Another cool new game is Pengoloo. I love this game because it is made from all wood pieces! The penguins are so cute! To play, you roll the included dice and look for the matching color of eggs under the penguins. When you find a match, you take your penguin and egg and place them on your 'iceberg'. The first to collect 6 penguins wins!

CooCoo (pronounced Kew Kew)The Rocking Clown loves to juggle! But his big green curved shoes make him wiggle and wobble back and forth. Your challenge is to put as many balls on CooCoo without him tipping over. This is a fun game that teaches kids about balance as they play. CooCoo is solid wood and comes with 24 wooden balls and is great for ages 3 and up.

If you've played Shut the Box, then you've just gotta play
Double Shutter!

Double Shutter is great in groups of up to four players or kids can play solo on long car rides. To play, you simply roll the dice, add up the dots to find the best combination of numbers to shut down as many tiles as possible.
Double Shutter comes in its own self contained tin and easily slips up under the car seat for storage.

New Breyer Mid-Year Releases!

I'm happy to announce the brand new mid-year models that are now available for pre-ordering from Geddie's Toys! Breyer has released some really great models this year and many of the real horses will be guests at this year's Breyerfest for you to meet! Breyer has set release/shipping dates around early to mid-July.

My favorite of course are the paint horses! Like Sato, a Thoroughbred of a different color. Sato, who is a real life palomino sabino Thoroughbred is from Blazing Colours Farm in Ontario Canada. Sato will be a special guest at Breyerfest.

If you love Arabians, then you must add TS Black Tie Affair to your collection! TS Black Tie Affair will also be a guest at Breyerfest this year. Black Tie is only 7/8 Arabian who recently won the "Supreme Legion of Merit" award.

Also releasing in July is Elvis' Bear. A black Tennessee Walking Horse that Elvis purchased about the same time he bought his new ranch in Walls, Mississippi, that he renamed the Circle G (for Graceland).

Another great Mid-Year Breyer model is the sweet pony Apple Jack. I'm really happy to see Breyer bring back the Bouncer pony mold as he has only been made once before as a regular run model way back in 2007-2008.

Prince Jester, another gaited favorite, will also be a Mid-Year model and will surely find a special place in the collection of many fans of the Missouri Fox Trotter breed!

Breyer is also making available 4 new Wind Dancer Storybooks in the ever expanding Wind Dancer Collection!

Breyer 2010 Mid-Year Release

Breyer announces their 2010 Mid-Year Models and all I can say is WOW! They released quite a few new items from Traditional models, color-changing Pony Gals to a new plush line called "Ponies Gone Wild!".

The New 2010 Fall Collector's Choice is a stunning tobiano sporthorse called Cloud Nine! They've also introduced an adorable New Forest Pony created after the award winning pony Enchanted Forest. Also in the Traditional line is the portrait model of Sapphire a Gold Medal winning show jumper!

To celebrate "The King", Elvis, Breyer is releasing a tribute to him and his beloved horse, Rising Sun. Named "Harmony on Horseback" The resin figure is on a beautiful base. Also available will be the plastic version of Rising Sun.

For the younger collector, Breyer has introduced a color changing Pony Gals pony for the bath! Met Jasmine the Bath Pony, along with the sound and motion pony Chloe, Care for Me Vet Play Set.

Here's the B*I*G truck with our Breyer order pulling into our parking lot!

1 pallet, 2 pallet, 3 pallet, 4! We unloaded 4 huge pallets from the truck!

And here sits boxes upon boxes of 300 Treasure Hunt models! We received 11 full Glossy sets and a bunch of matte sets! We'll be packing up and shipping pre-orders throughout the weekend!

Western Elegance has Arrived

All I can say about this set is WOWZA! I think its 10 times better than the Elegance Dressage Set! Here's a bunch of pictures that I took today! The doll is kinda stiff so I couldn't get a picture of her on the horse.

I also think that if once you got the set you placed the saddle around a soup/vegetable can and held it snugly with rubber bands that it would lay the edges of the saddle down alot better.

The painting is stunning on the model and the one I removed from the box for the pictures was almost flawless. There is also not alot of difference in coloring from one model to another like there was with the Dressage models!

For those of you who must add this set to your collection, but due to the holidays are running short on cash, we do offer a great Lay-A-Way plan just drop us an email!

Boxes, Boxes and More Boxes!!

We've been over-ridden with shipping boxes! The new 2010 Sneak Peak models arrived and in our first shipment we took off 26 cases of Breyers off the UPS truck yesterday! We started boxing and shipping orders at 11:30 yesterday morning and finished up at 10:45 last night! WHEW!!! 37 boxes from our first shipment of new horses are shown in the pix waiting for UPS and the mail man just picked up another 23!

You should have seen the look on his face when he saw all of the boxes sitting by the door- he was like "Ummm.... let me back the truck up"! LOL

And we get to do it all again with the next shipment of new models LOL, I'm thinking I'm to old for this LOL!

Water is now in Stock!!

He has arrived! Breyer Ethereal Water!I can't get over how great this guy is! He has some AWESOME shading and dappling. Some models are alot darker than others with alot more dappling and others seem to be a lighter grey color with less dappling

I've tried to get a good side by side comparison so everyone could see the difference in the 2. I don't really think any 2 are alike at all. I think everyone is going to be really impressed with this guy once they have a chance to see him in person

And another shot- He just doesn't seem to have a bad angle!

I also received in the New Stablemate Cherry Creek play set its pretty nice. I also received more Christmas ornaments and the Holiday Music Box which I'll have pictures up of both on the website shortly- gotta start packing Water's to go to their new owners today!

Along with 15 other boxes of regular breyer items, UPS just delivered the Brand New Fall Release Cloud:Challenge of the Stallions set and the new fall release of the Stablemates Deluxe Farm Set with the new red tractor and the long awaited Longhorn Bull who is awesome to say the least!

The New Cloud Set is alot better in person than the stock photos! The coloring on each of the models is in my opinion better than on most other classics and I really like the little cream colored foal! Although the little buckskin is a very close second

Christmas has arrived!

I was very surprised when the UPS guy just came and dropped off a huge box labeled "Christmas 2009 Display" WOW! Breyer is really on the ball this year. I wasn't expecting any Christmas items until around mid-Sept! I now have everything in except the Snow Globe and the cute little plush Kringle. All Pre-Orders are being packed and getting ready for shipping as I type this so don't wait to purchase any of these new items

My Rep also sent me a special offer this morning to get the #301114 "Waiting for Santa" Christmas Gift set and it should be shipping this next week so it won't be to long before those will be in stock also! When I saw this set I couldn't pass it up! It is so adorable and I think so many young horse loving girls would love to open it on Christmas morning or even receive it from Santa!

Update on Fun with Model Horses Set

Hi all,
I just spoke with my Rep about the Mid-Year Release "Fun with Model Horses" Set and thought I would pass on the news.

Breyer did start receiving them in and in opening cases to ship them to retailers, they noticed something in the set wasn't made correctly as they had specified. So all of them were shipped back to China to be remade properly and it is estimated to be ANOTHER 3 weeks before any are going to be arriving at Breyer and then be ready to ship out to stores.

She said she'd update me if she found out anything sooner...

Sorry I didn't have any better news to share about this set. I know we have *alot* that were pre-ordered and this continual delay is crazy LOL

60th Anniversary Edition Misty & Ideal In Stock Now

It seems like I've been waiting forever on these new models! The New Misty set does look better than last year's set. They have really nice shading and coloring and this time they even painted the eye whites for personality!

Also just in is #1200 Ideal Oldenburg. This guy has great coloring and should do well in any english event in either photo shows or live. Most of the paint jobs are the same although some seem to have more dapples than others.

Still waiting on the "Fun with Model Horses" set but they should have started shipping this week *crosses fingers*

New Secretariat & Classic Cruiser in Stock!

Hi all, yesterday July 7th we received another shipment of new Breyer goodies! This time it was our new Secretariat Models and the New Classic Cruiser! This thing is HUGE!! I can't imagine any little kids turning it down! I sat one out on our front counter and it was so nice to hear the squeals of joy from the kids as they came through the front door and saw it!

Now we're just waiting for the grey Flash in the Fun with Model Horses set...maybe today ????? lol

I was so surprised to see box after box labeled with the New Mid-Year release Sergeant that was just delivered! The mid-years wern't suppose to start shipping from Breyer until next week!! Some news on Mid-Years!

Well I don't know to much, only that 3 New Traditionals will be released and that retailers will receive the info around the 22nd of June. It seems its all delayed for some reason. Ethereal Water and another Elegance set with a stunning paint horse are scheduled to be released in the Fall.

No info yet on the new Classic Bonanza Horses either, but you can count on Geddie's Toys to be the first to have 'real' pictures of the models as soon as we can

We announced this morning the addition of the newest interactive feature on our website- "Scratch & Save" It is super cool and fun to play with! All you do is click on any item page and scroll down to see the "Scratch & Save" Box. Stunning Book for Tackmakers!!

Hey everyone! I wanted to share this simply stunning new book I just purchased. The title is "Fine Art of the West" by B.Byron Price and was printed in 2004. I can't say enough about this book! It has approximately 270 illustrations with 235 in full color and most are full page pictures. The book measures 10 1/2" across the front and is 12 1/2" tall

All in all there is 276 pages including the index, acknowledgments and bibliography with the first 109 pages being devoted to saddles & tack. My pictures aren't very great as the pages are very nice semi-glossy pages and hard to photograph properly. The 4 pics shown here are just a sampling of what this great book has to offer

It gives alot of history but presented in an entertaining format, not like a boring history class LOL! The rest of the book goes in to holsters,bits, spurs, belts, boots, and hats. I paid $26.15 and $3.99 shipping from Half.com for the hardcover edition.

I think this book would be great for model horse tackmakers as the pictures show so much detail that could be translated into a miniature saddle set. If you like creating historical western tack or the super fancy silver parade sets- this book has examples of all. Even an original Buffalo Bill saddle from 1893 is included in this book. There are many saddle makers described in this in text and by pictures such as Edward Bohlin, Garcia Saddlery and the King Ranch Saddle Shop.

All in all this is a great reference for any aspiring tack maker or a seasoned tackmaker and at a pretty decent price as well!

Celebrate Rolex with Special Savings!

Hello Everyone!

Alot of hard work and dedication goes into each horse & rider team that will be competing at the 2009 Rolex Three Day Event.

On the first day- each horse & rider team will judged on their obedience and movement in the Dressage Tests. On the 2nd day the competition is kicked up a notch to the Cross-Country courses. Here, the speed and boldness of the horse is proven as the jumps over natural terrain obstacles almost at a full gallop while his rider guides him. The third day brings us back to the arena for the Stadium Jumping. Stadium Jumping provides the final test of the horse's athletic ability, conditioning and training. All of the jumping obstacles are man-made and brightly colored! Horses must jump the obstacles quickly and without knocking any poles from the jumps!

Since real horses influence our Model Horse Hobby so greatly, I thought it would be nice this month to Celebrate the Rolex 3 Day Event that's going on in Kentucky April 23-26 . I've got the prices of our Sporthorse models marked down just for April so check them out

"Featured Collector" ~ Paige Cerulli

Met our "Featured Collector" for this week!

Paige has been an avid collector since about the age of 10, although she didn't start seriousely collecting models until about 3 years ago when she turned 19. She currently has around 100 models although that number is constantly changing!

Her first model horse was King the bay stallion on the Ideal American Quarter Horse Mold. Paige tells us that she saw him in a store and it was love at first sight! She was ten years old at the time and knew she had to have him! She saved and saved for months and then ordered him from the store's catalog!

When asked what advice she would give newcomers to the hobby she said "I think finding a model horse forum/chat is probably the first step to take. I'm a member of Fallen Leaves and the amount of information there is incredible! Most collector's are more than happy to help answer questions, so don't hesitate to ask- you'll learn alot very quickly! There is tons of information available on the internet, but probably the best information comes from fellow hobbyist. Don't be afraid to ask questions"

Like most collector's- Paige also has a favorite model - Afleet Alex on the Lonesome Glory mold! She says she's a huge fan of the mold because she loves & rides Thoroughbreds and she just loves the proud look the mold has. Although Paige doesn't own any horses of her own, she is fortunate enough to be able to ride a very sweet, grey Thoroughbred mare named Whisper.

Paige has a great talent in the model horse hobby of being able to create one-of-a-kind etched models. Etching is when you remove some of the original paint from the model and expose the white underneath making a pattern like a pinto or appaloosa. She's been etching for about 2 years now and she says she loves being able to take a flawed model and transform it into something new and unflawed!

Estimated Arrival for Spring Releases

Well I've got not such good news. I called our Rep late yesterday to find out just where all of our Spring Release models are at as I myself am getting impatient! She tracked our order and found out that they have been shipped by a freight carrier, Conway. We ordered so many models that they couldn't ship them by UPS so they put them all on a couple of pallets and shrink wrapped them LOL!!

She said they are on track and scheduled to be delivered tomorrow- 4/1 I sure hope its not an April Fool's Joke! LOL

"Featured Collector" ~ Liz Cory

We have selected Liz Cory as our first ever "Featured Collector"! Here's her story~
Liz started collecting model horses in 1962 and currently has 5,000+ models in her collection! Liz tells us that her brother had taken her to a local bookstore that sold Breyer models and she was taken by a beautiful glossy palomino arabian mare (later named 'Trigger'). Her brother had some extra money that their mother had given him to buy something for her and he bought Trigger for her and she still has the model in her collection to this day!

Liz has attended many live shows and was very active in photo showing in the 60' and 70's. She has also been to just about every single Breyerfest! Many collector's have probably met her there!

We asked Liz what advice she could give newcomers just starting out in the model horse hobby and this was her reply- "Collect what you like, and try not to get to overwhelmed by all the choices. Take your time, read and learn as much as you can about real horses and enjoy this wonderful hobby!"

Liz's family even has a bit of model horse history in it. We asked Liz what her favorite model is and why- Caroline's Summer Star is a Peter Stone QH SR (2005) that was named after her mother who died of cancer in that year. She would have been honored to know that a SR was named after her. The Breyer Isham, (pronounced eye-shum)SR is named after a horse owned by a more distant relative of hers (Isham is her maiden name) who gave the real Isham to Buffalo Bill

As a teenager, Liz had a wonderful ASB/QH cross named Tammy. Liz tells us that Tammy didn't like alot of folks, especially men, but they got along very well and formed a close bond that many of us do with our real equine friends. Liz recalls winning trophies in trail events including the class 'blind trail'.

Liz's involment in the hobby contimues to this day as she is the current treasurer for the Great Lakes Congress, Inc. which is dedicated to teaching youth about horses by using the models that we all love! In closing Liz tells us that this is a great hobby for "kids" of all ages. Its a way in which we can share our love of horses and continue our education in this fascinating area. She says she's met so many great people through model and real horses.

We just found out from Breyer that there will be 3 new Spring Release models available! They're already in stock at Breyer and our order is shipping on Monday. There's Kuchi- a stunning black and white Gypsy Vanner created on the Goffert mold. There's also Sheik Af Hallundbaek a great looking leopard appaloosa sporthorse portrait model.

And then we finally have the long awaited release of of the 3rd Ethereal Collection ~ Fire! Breyer has created him as what looks like a red chestnut wild leopard appaloosa! I bet he's going to be stunning in person!

Of course the day these guys arrive I'll get really good 'actual pix' of them and get them loaded on their pages so everyone can get an idea of what they really look like.

Also the Classic Spotted Shire has schedulded to arrive at the Breyer warehouse today (3/18) and our Rep said that it should go out with our order on Monday

We finally received all of the dolls we were out of. It seems like it has taken forever to get these back in stock. We have the show jumper rider, Kylie Cowgirl, and Austin. Also we just got in alot more of the saddle stands, who would have ever thought those were so popular??

We now have the 2009 New Release of #1384 Western Riding Acc. Set!

Also delivered were alot more of the Spanish Flamenco Sets, Classic Horse Care Gift Set, Ethereal Earth, and all 3 Pony gals.

Now offering Hand Picking & Inspection!

Due to the numerous requests I've had since I started offering Breyer's, Geddie's Toys is now offering a hand picking service as well as a visual check option when you pick out your models. Many of the models that I have just visually checked without removing them from their box have gone on to be live shown and have won Championships in halter! Because it takes on average about an hour to find a very Live Show Quality model, I am going to have to charge a small fee for this service. I'm also offering a Visual Look-over and you can choose this option if you are looking for a really nice model but aren't looking for a top LSQ model. These options are great for the die-hard collector!

I haven't offered this service in the past as it is very time consuming to do and I do end up with models that are removed from the box but are still in great condition as a shelf model but not live show quality in my opinion. Any models that are removed from their boxes, will be offered on our site on the Specials & Sales page so check their often if you are looking for a body quality model or just a really nice model that no longer comes with its box!

The Holiday Horse will be a beautiful light grey painted on the Huckleberry Bey mold and named "Nutcracker Prince" He is adorned with a red/gold embroidered holiday blanket and matching bridle and collar. He is the 13th in the series and comes with 2 decorative tree ornaments!

Welcome Everyone to our New Blog!

Wow its been a crazy couple of weeks here trying to get everything ready to 'go live' and make the announcement that we are finally Open for Business LOL!

I do hope that everyone really likes all of the hard work that has been put into our new site as well as looking forward to all of the great stuff we have planned for the future! We started this at the end of Novemeber 2008 when I first contatced our design company. I felt an e-commerce site would be able to met the needs of our growing customer base better than I could by myself.

I've got a full schedule worked out for the next 9 months that includes great contest & online events that I'm sure everyone will enjoy!
